This album is a "best of" that was available
at mp3.com, sadly its no longer available. Through Howard gives
us extremely tasy solos in strong song frameworks. The guys
tone is rather splendid with great clarity and its good to see
a player that is not afraid to use mid range!
Howard has all the basis covered and is also a dab
hand at slide guitar. Crying Hunger
is stunning, a super cool melodic slice of emotive lead guitar,
great phrasing. Banquet On Mars
has a great melodic twist that is super quirky. Wandsworth
Commons Pt.2 is home to some sublime acoustic work. Purusha
is home to some eatern tinged magic - very spiritual and home
to some exquisite phrasing.
Howard is similar in vein to Joe Satriani yet has
a bit more of a fusion touch to his work. Comparisons to Neal
Schon are also in evidence thanks mostly to the stellar melodic
content. Howard has an excellent array of tones from clean to
a great full and detailed lead tone, never buzzy - its just
breathes wonderfully.
The production throughout is excellent, everything
is clearly audible and mixed extremely well. This aids further
to the quality of songwriting and I have to ask - why the hell
hasn't this guy been picked up by a strong indie label ala Mascot
or Lion Music?
This compilation suggests that you cannot go wrong
with any of Howard's work so be sure to check out Howard

Howard
Hart
Genre: Instrumental Rock Guitar

Howard has been writing and recording in the world
of guitar for many years. His initial demo "Fatigue Free"
caught the attention of John Stix at Guitar One Magazine, who
promptly signed Howard to the Guitar Recordings label. After
contributing two cuts to the "Burnin'" CD, he also
provided a track for the "Guitar On The Edge" CD Vol.1/No.4
Howard has appeared in Guitar One Magazine, Guitar
World, and Guitar Player; as well as Southern California's BAM
and Mean Street publications.
In 1999 Howard released "Mind Grind"
- a unique blend of high energy rock meets scorching emotional
ballads and over-the-top fusion... The track "Crying Hunger"
quickly climbed to the top of MP3.COM's instrumental rock charts;
enjoying an extended stay at #1 and becoming one of the most
popular songs of 1999! In November of 2000 it once again jetted
to the top of the charts, along with several other songs in
his catalog.
Howard has 4 albums to his credit: Dancind
Madly Backwards. Mind Grind, Banquet On Mars, Remasters and
Vital Karma (coming early 2004).
