Exercise vs. Workout

Workout sessions are plans. They are not random actions. Effective workout planning gives you the ability to achieve very concrete outcomes based on your conscious decisions and actions. There is an element of predictability in workout sessions if they are carefully planned.

Age usually helps us through accumulated experiences to see the connection between our actions and their outcome. Using our experience helps us recognize and use what steps are the most beneficial to us.

As we get older, we recognize at some level that random actions rarely produce predictable results, and us look for organized actions with predictable results.

One way to avoid random actions is to focus our resources on reaching specific results through conscious actionable step-by-step decisions instead of  random responses.

We recognize that decisions cannot be made in isolation. Every decision is connected to the steps before it and after it. Each step is to accomplish something specific. Some of these specific outcomes take more time and some less.

These steps within a workout session are exercises. Specific pattern of exercises your perform is on session is your workout plan.

A single exercise could be as simple as a biceps curl or as complex as a burpee with many parts.  A carefully designed workout routine ensures that the exercises you select do not duplicate your efforts, clash with each other or risk injury.

Every step of a workout routine is to help you reach your fitness goal without compromising your health or your fitness goals.
